Better to go through Cas12 route, with the time we have
- From Professor Andras' experience, sonication has proved to have better results over bead beating.
- There might be physical limitations in implementing the bead beating method.
- Establish the process flow first. It seems like a better route to stick to Cas12
- Have Cas13 just in case. What will make it more stand out is the whole device in itself, not just the choice of detection enzyme. How we make it more practical, easier to use, etc. etc. Cas13 vs. Cas12 may not excite ppl in particular.
- Cas13a is a difficult task since its our first time using it. Cas12a is already a difficult task as itself.
- focus on Cas12 more than Cas13
- We already have the advantage of getting data from a lab to present in the jamboree.
- Think of getting sponsorships, use literature to support ur project, and have the experiments ready for next year’s project.
- Song’s lab space is already limited to 2 at a time. We can have professor Andras’ lab space as well.
- Lateral flow assay is really good for a POC device, cheap,
- Reporting mechanism: Prof Alan suggested to have an solid workflow first and then develop from this
- Buy the kits and primers ASAP!!!!
- Computational simulation: We have to assume both 1st and 3rd data points are the same for both cases, then compare the second points against each other.
